4 x 4 Off Road Driving
Probably our most popular activity on Graythwaite Estate. With lumps, bumps and camel humps, controlled acceleration and axel articulation, Graythwaite Adventure will bring you the best 4×4 experience by far! Get behind the steering wheel of one of the Land Rover Defenders and take on the challenges of the course; a professionally built natural off-road driving course, one of a kind with stunning views of Lake Windermere, and the only British Off Road Driving Association approved course in the county, with qualified BORDA instructors to guide you all the way.
Clay Pigeon Shooting
Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced shot, we have a set up that will suit everyone. You’ll learn the key techniques of clay pigeon shooting including safety, gun mounting and how and when to pull the trigger.
We offer both single and double sit on top kayaks which are paddled with a double-bladed paddle. Super steady and great fun, the kayaks are always a popular choice.
RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) Rides
Cruise Windermere on board our BRIG Navigator accommodating up to 9 passengers. From experiencing the quiet bays on the Western shore to viewing some of the lake’s most impressive properties from the water we tailor the time to suit you.
Archery & Axe throwing
Channel your inner Robin Hood and learn the ancient skill of archery. Our friendly, qualified and experienced instructor will provide expert tuition for novices and skilled archers alike. Great fun for all the family. Why not combine archery with the increasingly popular axe throwing, once the preserve of lumberjack competitions in the USA.
Introduction to Bushcraft
We’ll teach you the skills you need to survive a night in the Lake District without the deluxe comfort and amenities that Silverholme and the Graythwaite Cottages offer. Venture into Graythwaite estate’s woodland and learn skills such as lighting fires, building shelters, sourcing water, basic camp fire cooking and of course toasting marshmallows.
Canoeing on Lake Windermere
Join us for a fun and leisurely canoeing experience where we’ll teach you the basic canoeing and paddling techniques. Journey into the quiet bays and visit some of the famous islands on Lake Windermere. You’ll spot some of our local wildlife, maybe play some canoe games whilst enjoying the natural peaceful environment over a warm drink and a flapjack.
Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP)
Stand up Paddleboarding is fun, exciting and enjoyable. Your instructor will meet you at your cottage, get you kitted up in all the gear before you, your friends and family make your way down to the lake where your paddleboards will be waiting. A fantastic way to spend any morning or afternoon on England’s largest natural lake.
